EDOARDO COLOMBI TRIUMPHS ON THE FINAL STRETCH IN THE SPORTBIKE CLASS AT SNETTERTON
8 July 2024 - The reigning champion of the Aprilia RS 660 Trophy had another memorable weekend in the fifth round of the season for British Superbike. Despite being entirely unfamiliar with the Snetterton track, the Italian rider was demonstrating his potential as early as the free practice sessions, staying consistently in the top three. In qualifying, the only session of the weekend held on a wet track, he managed to qualify fourth on the grid.
It was an extremely heated race for Colombi, who battled all the way to the final lap with his closest rival, gaining the upper hand across the line and taking victory on the final stretch by just 64 thousandths of a second. With this result, Edoardo Colombi holds onto the leadership of the Pirelli National Sportbike class with 152.5 points.
For Colombi and the Aprilia RS 660, this is the fifth win of the season in BSB, which demonstrates, not only the impressive growth path of the Aprilia Trophy championships, but also the potential of the Aprilia RS 660.
EDOARDO COLOMBI
“In free practice sessions, I worked primarily to learn the track as well as I could because I had never raced there, paying close attention to the setup of the RS 660. The work done by the team proved to be fundamental, especially after the qualifiers which were marred by unstable weather conditions. I tackled the race with determination, battling all the way to the end against my direct rival in the standing. I wish to thank Aprilia and Gradara Corse for their fantastic support. Together, we are enriching the Sportbike class.”
